That fish are an important source of vitamins and minerals?

Fish is an important source of highly nutritive and easily digestible proteins. It has a lot of vitamins, essential for normal functioning of our body.

  • Vitamin A is necessary for normal growth, formation of bones and teeth, cell building, it prevents poor eyesight and helps in treatment of many eye diseases.
  • Vitamin D helps with correct use of calcium and phosphorus, which are both necessary for strong bones and teeth; combined with vitamins A and C it helps prevent colds.
  • Vitamin B is important for enzyme functioning; enzymes accelerate chemical processes in the body.
  • Vitamin K helps prevent internal bleeding and stimulates correct coagulation of blood.

Fish, especially blue, is an extraordinary therapeutic and preventive food:

  • It lowers the blood pressure. Scientists think that omega 3 fatty acids are the ones, responsible for lowering blood pressure. The recommended daily dosage for lowering blood pressure is 200 grams (7 ounces) of sardines or 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of mackerel. Potassium and selenium are also thought to help lower blood pressure and both are found in fish.
  • They prevent heart and vascular diseases.
  • They maintain the correct cholesterol level in blood, they reduce the amount of dangerous cholesterol, named LDL, and increase the amount of protective HDL cholesterol.
  • They prevent diabetes. Scientists think that omega 3 fatty acids are the main factor, which helps the body monitor the amount of glucose.

Fish is excellent and safe for long-term treatment of asthma. Omega 3 fatty acids prevent strokes. Their impact on blood is such that they help prevent the blood to over coagulate and thus brain blood vessels are less probable to clot. They prevent headaches and over time help to ease the migraines.
